Hannah Montana Guitar Cake

This cake was originally purple. However, when it got into the sun it turned blue and it melted. I did the neck, bridge and sound hole of the guitar in molded chocolate and the strings were rolled fondant. I used the Wilton Guitar Pan to shape the cake as well as mold the neck, bridge and sound hole.

Butterfly Cake

This cake was for my friend's daughter's 6th birthday. She wanted a butterfly cake, but I wanted to make sure there was plenty of cake for the whole party. I made this cake a french vanilla cake with real strawberries for the filling. I made the cupcakes to look like daisies in the grass and surrounded the butterfly with them, so it looked like it was surrounded by flowers. The daisies are made with candy molds.

A cake for my princess

She's usually into monkeys, but this year she wanted a princess cake. I used the wilton doll pan and created this cake with fondant and royal icing flowers. The flowers she's holding came from my garden from my pea vine. The bottom teir is buttercream with fondant flowers. The cake flavor was orange, lemon and strawberry with cream filling. When cut into it was pink, orange and yellow.

I made this cake for my own 28th Birthday. I am very proud of how well it turned out. The dots needed work, they all had tails, but my rosettes and leaves worked out really well.

Wilton Cake Decorating Course 3

Course 3 of the Wilton Cake Decorating Courses deals more with fondant and tiered cakes. There wasn't much about the fondant aspect that I didn't learn on my own ahead of time. We did learn some different flower techniques and making fondant flowers.

Sarah's 30th Birthday cake

I created this cake for my sister's 30th birthday. The flavor of the cake is dark chocolate with a chocolate mousse filling and chocolate buttercream icing (of my own recipe). I shredded chocolate on top instead of curling it (not to mention, it just wouldn't curl for me). This is the first cake I'd done since starting the Wilton Cake Decorating Classes.

I also don't feel a cake is finished until it's been put in a cake box. It takes on a more professional appeal. I wonder if someday I could get some cool custom boxes made.

Jakes 24th Birthday

I didn't want this cake to be too girly, but the birthday boy didn't really give me a preference to what he wanted. He said white cake with strawberry filling. That was it. So I did a basket weave with a yellow sweet pea border. He loved it.
