I realize that there is a year break in between cake posts. The reason was I was going to school and didn't do many cakes during this time nor did I have time to blog them.

Portable Pies

Portable pies; only because I dont have a better name for them. I wanted to make a pie easy to handle. Pies you don't have to slice up and use plates and forks to eat. Pies you can stand around the kitchen and eat, like we did last night. Just wait until they cool, first. I used a simple apple pie recipe. Pie dough, granny smith apples mixed with brown sugar and allspice. I took a small amount of dough, rolled it out into a small circle and placed the apple mixture in the middle. Then I folded it in half and pressed the edges together with a fork and brushed them with some beaten egg. I placed them all into a baking dish and put them in the over at 380 degrees (or 385 degrees for Aron) and cooked them for about 20 -25 minutes. When they came out I glazed them with some brown sugar mixed with a little water to sweeten the top. The product of this experimental recipe was perfect. Portable pies. Easy to eat. No forks, no plates, no pie dishes.
